Public Memory

Public memory shapes how people identify themselves, understand their place in the world, and make sense of the present and future.

And through memories, meaning is created in our lives.

We have something for everyone!

As part of our efforts in curating this public memory project, we value your personal experience.

Join us as you jot down some of your favourite memories or experiences, and spend some time looking at stories written by fellow Singaporeans.

Perhaps there might be some you would relate to, some that are interestingly humourous. Put these together, we get the daily experiences of fellow Singaporeans across multiple generations!

2. Your favourite memory

Take a post it and write down the fondest memory you have on Singapore's public buses. When done, paste it onto the wall and take a look at what others have written too!

YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY

Verlyn, 21

I remember the buttons of the coin machine were blue when I was very young, but they were probably the last few to remain back then.

Chin Yew, 55

70s buses had no aircon... Bus driver and conductor had to issue tickets and punch hole to indicate you fare. And last time weather not so warm like now. Natural air.

Pei Shan, 36

I remember when they used to play advertisements on those small screens on the buses. The buses were not as bright as now... I miss riding the old buses together with my grandmother when she was still around...
